This encaustic painting was inspired by a photo I took of Point Ann on the south coast of Western Australia.
Part of a series of encaustic paintings to be shown in The Land I Love exhibition in late 2019.

Inspired by our south west tall timbers.
After dabbling a bit into paper making, abstract embroidery and crochet I was invited to exhibit with the West Australian Fibre & Textiles Association (WAFTA) in 2020. My two pieces in the exhibition were a large handmade paper bowl adorned with encaustic and fibre, the other being an embellished 26 piece of hoop creation made with kombucha leather (that was fun growing it!), hessian, muslin, gut, & handmadepaper.
this was hanging from the ceiling on a half sheath of vine clippings. The exhibition was a great success at the Holmes a’Court Gallery in Perth with over 6,000 people attending ....thank goodness our state has seen very little Covid lockdow and the restrictions lifted just in time for the exhibition.
I have since been exploring fibre and textiles further with the aim to incorporate my painting with textiles & fibres.
